Juniors
The junior sides are now all on a break until the New Year. The A team will return to action on Sunday, January 5, when they will welcome Div 2B side, Abbey Rovers to Derryleigh Park in the Lawson Cup. Whoever wins this game will be at home to the winners of Northside & Cappamore in round 2.

Christmas Raffle Winners
The soccer club's Christmas Draw took place on Saturday night in O’Sullivan's Bar. It was a great night enjoyed by all with DJ Shane supplying the music. Prizes on offer included large Xmas hampers, a fuel voucher, turkey & ham, small hampers and lots of other prizes. The winners of the big hampers, very kindly sponsored by Delaney Minihan Funeral Directors, Sweeney’s Filling Station, Ryan’s Centra and Mulcair Credit Union were Tadhg Maher, Clonbealy, Jason Lynch, c/o Nolan Carpets, John O’Carroll, Murroe. Other prize winners were Anne English, Clonbealy (fuel voucher), Rosin Allen, Cragg (Turkey & Ham sponsored by Robbie Bailey), Tadhg Maher, Clonbealy (small hamper), Paschal Harvey (small hamper), Katie Quinn, Ballinahinch (small hamper), Ken McNamara, Drombanna (bottle of whiskey).

The winners of house spot prizes on the nights were Sarah Egan, Glencree (bottle of brandy sponsored by Mary Jo O’Sullivan), Catherine Harvey, Black Road (bottle of gin), Jennifer Judge (wine & chocs), Mike O’Donoghue (wine & chocs sponsored by Kennedy’s Discount Store), Catherine Burke, Clonbealy (wine & chocs).

Thanks to everyone who supported the club by buying a line to enter the raffle and donating prizes. Thanks as always to Mary Jo O’Sullivan for her hospitality on the night and for sponsoring a spot prize.

Lotto
There was no winner of this week’s club’s lotto and the jackpot is now €1,100 with the next draw taking place on Saturday, December 28 in Lee’s. The numbers drawn were 8, 17, 19 & 25. Tickets can be purchased from any committee member, in the local pubs, Nicky English Butchers, the Derryleigh Dugout and at our lotto stand at Ryan’s Centra on Sunday mornings. They can also be bought online via the cub website. Thanks, as always, to everyone who supports the club’s main fund raiser.

Table Quiz
The club’s annual table quiz will take place in Lee’s Bar on Friday, January 31. Be sure to pencil the date in your diaries.

Christmas Message
Finally, the soccer club would like to wish everyone in Newport and surrounding areas, especially our players, coaches, supporters, sponsors and their families a very peaceful Christmas and a happy New Year. Thank you to all our club sponsors and local businesses for their support throughout the year and to everyone who supported the club’s various fundraising efforts during 2019. Without people’s generosity and goodwill towards the soccer club, it would not be possible to progress the club forward.
