Despite the Level 5 Covid-19 lockdown, our underage sides have been able to continue non-contact training. It’s safe to say that attendances at training have never been better and the players & coaches have been able to train but all the time observing the FAI’s safety protocols. It’s strange not being able to tackle or get in close contact with other players during training sessions but this has allowed coaches & players to focus on more technical aspects of the players’ development and still have fun at training. Great credit is due to the coaches, the players and their parents for adapting to the new procedures and turning up for the sessions despite the poor weather at times. The club sees training in the outdoors as vital for the players’ physical and mental wellbeing during these strange times.
We hope that on December 1, our junior sides will also be able to return to group training sessions, even if games might still be somewhere in the distance. All we can do as a club is to continue to adhere to the guidelines and look after the safety of our players and coaches and hopefully in the not too distant future, we might see the return of games and visiting teams to Derryleigh Park. We will keep a very close eye on the Govt's announcement later this week.
In the meantime, we call on all our supporters to support our vital fundraising efforts such as the weekly club lotto, the €20 for 2020 Euromillions syndicate (starting very soon), our clothes collection and the upcoming Xmas raffle. These fundraisers are essential to keep the show on the road and enable the club to continue to provide its facilities for our players and wider community. Take care and remain safe. Please drive carefully in Derryleigh car park
With so many training sessions taking place in Derryleigh Park on these dark winter evenings, the car park is very busy with lots of children. We would ask everyone to please take care and slow down when entering & exiting the car park and while parking and reversing. Please take extra care to keep an eye out for children who may not be paying attention. We would also ask players who walk to to Derryleigh to please obey the rules of the road and wear high-vis clothing. Thank you.
Lotto
There was no winner of this week’s club’s lotto and the jackpot is now €2,200 with the next draw taking place on Saturday, November 28 in the clubhouse. The numbers drawn were 6, 16, 23 & 30. Three x €20 lucky dip winners including one ticket bought online. Pat & Ailbe Coffey, Main St, Amber Healy, Kiloscully & Linda Harvey, Glencree (ONLINE). Tickets can be purchased from any committee member at our lotto stand at Ryan’s Centra on Friday evenings & Sunday mornings. They can also be bought online via the club website. Thanks, as always, to everyone who supports the club’s main fund raiser.
Clothes Collection
Are you clearing out wardrobes or de-cluttering? We can help. Our ‘Clothes Collection’ fundraiser continues so drop your bags of clothes, shoes, handbags, blankets & bed linen (NO duvets) to the clubhouse, Mon-Fri, 6-9pm or all day Saturday. Just leave them in closed bags under the clubhouse canopy and we will recycle them for you. You get to clear out some of your stuff and the club makes a few euros. If you have any questions or need bags collected, please contact Tim Coffey on 086 3935244. Spread the word.
Help us keep Derryleigh Park clean
With every player now bringing their own water bottles to training, we ask that you please bring your plastic bottles home with you or else put them in the bins in Derryleigh Park. Parents, please pass this message on to your kids. Thanks for your co-operation.
