⚽️The league campaigns for our Junior sides wrap up this coming weekend with lots still to play for and various permutations. Read below to see what’s on the line.

Junior A:
The A team have secured promotion to the Premier League and are still in the running for the league title but it’s out of their hands. Newport are currently 1 point behind Geraldines and are at home to Fairview B on Saturday night in Derryleigh Park in the final game of the season. The league leaders are at home to relegation threatened Cappamore, who need to win to ensure their survival or a draw to force a relegation playoff against Murroe, so they have lots to play for. If Geraldines win their game, they will be crowned league champions. If Dines draw or lose and Newport win, we win the league. If both teams draw, then Dines win the league. If Geraldines lose and Newport draw, then it will be a playoff for the league title. All that Newport can do is try and get the 3 points and hope that Cappamore can upset the odds against Geraldines. Whatever happens, promotion was the priority at the start of the season and that’s been achieved.

Junior B:
The Bs will be playing in Div. 1B again next season and play their final league game away to Aisling Annacotty C on Sunday morning. The lads have a Cup Final in Jackman Park to look forward to against Parkville A team later in the month. This is a very young squad with some of the players playing their first full season in the junior ranks. Reaching a Cup Final is a good reward for the lads efforts during the season and to win the trophy would be the icing on the cake.

Junior C:
The Cs are a very young junior squad with a very young manager and have had a mixed season but have always given their all and were unlucky not to pick up more points along the way. Unfortunately, the results have not gone their way and they will be dropping down a division next season. However, like the B team, a lot of players have played their first full season at junior level and will have learnt a lot along the way. They round off their campaign away to league leaders and already promoted Corbally B on Sunday afternoon.

U18 Youths:
The Youths have enjoyed a hugely successful season in winning the League & Cup Double and will be looking to go through their league campaign unbeaten when they play Regional away on Saturday night. The Youths will be presented with their league trophy in Dooradoyle on Saturday evening.

U17:
The top two sides in Div. 2 meet on Sunday afternoon in Derryleigh Park in a league decider. Murroe are currently 1 point ahead of Newport going into the final game of the season, knowing that a draw will be enough for our near neighbours to clinch the league title. Newport know they must win the game to overhaul Murroe, so the scene is set for a massive local derby. Ironically off the field, some players from both sides are friends with one another as they go to school together in Newport. School could be interesting on Monday morning.

Support at all games is very welcome #honthetown🔴⚫️
